Earthdance at Waveform Festival 2008

Earthdance - Give Peace a Dance!

Waveform is proud to be part of Earthdance, the world’s largest synchronised music and dance event for world peace. At midnight on Saturday night, joined by over 300 events in 60 other countries, Waveform will celebrate the Prayer For Peace - a moment of unifying intention for world unity. A portion of Waveform’s proceeds go to Earthdance as well as our nominated charity, Ecoshelter.

THE EARTHDANCE MISSION

Our mission is to promote peace by joining participants worldwide in a synchronized Prayer for Peace and to support humanitarian causes through the global language of music and dance.

THE EARTHDANCE VISION

Our Vision is to inspire participation from promoters, clubs, artists, musicians, and peace-lovers worldwide to dedicate one day in support of humanitarian efforts and help unite people from all nations in a day of peaceful celebration.

SPREADING THE LOVE

Our objective is to create as many Earthdance events around the world as possible. From stadium concerts to living room gatherings, there are no conditions on how big or small an event has to be. With the advent of technology, Earthdance has extended our reach via the website, email outreach campaigns, and webcasting. Over 1,000,000 people have attended live Earthdance events since it began, and Earthdance is recognized as the world’s largest synchronized dance and music event for peace.

Earthdance brings people from all races and cultures together and raises awareness for many select causes. Earthdance events financially supports international and local charities around the world, and over $1,000,000 has been donated to charity since it began.

In the spirit of “Think Global, Act Local,” each local promoter is asked to donate at least 50% of their Earthdance event’s profits to a local charity of their choice. Each promoter also commits to include that charity in their event by giving them space to display information, and time to speak at the event.

THE EARTHDANCE  STORY

Founded in 1996, Earthdance – the Global Festival for Peace has grown to become the world’s largest simultaneous dance and music event for peace. Equipped with only a fax machine, a telephone, and a strong vision, Earthdance founder Chris Deckker organized 18 cities from his home in London. After moving to California in 1999, he formalized Earthdance as a California 501 {c} 3 non-profit entity. Each year Earthdance has continued to attract new participating locations, each self-funded and fueled by grassroots enthusiasm. The infectious groove spread from 18 participating cities in 1997 to 300 participating locations in 2007.

The highlight of the Earthdance event is a simultaneous link up, when every event across the world plays the 4-minute Prayer for Peace track. Morning in the Australian rainforest, midnight in London, and sunrise over the Himalayas, the Prayer for Peace is a profound and powerful moment that unifies our intentions for world peace and healing.
